I had the opportunity to get out to the soccer fields last Saturday for a very important game. Bryan's older girls ('98s) clinched the first place spot in Division II in Lake Highlands Classic League, which means they will move to Division I next season. Now, if you don't live in soccer world and that makes no sense to you (some of it still makes no sense to me, but I try), they are playing in one of the top leagues in the DFW area, and Division I is the top of that league.
It is so amazing to watch these girls grow from little girls to young ladies. I don't get out to a lot of the games, so every time I see them, I am taken aback by how beautiful and talented they are (and how tall they've gotten). It is such a commitment to play this level of soccer at such a young age and such a commitment from their parents as well. Bryan played at this level, too, and I know his mom bent over backwards so that he was able to do it. I admire this from parents and hope I will be as committed to whatever my son takes an interest in.
I probably looked like a creeper out at the game taking pictures of the girls, but I wanted to be able to remember these days (and to share on my blog).
Bryan was extremely proud of the girls, and I was extremely proud of him. I think he is a fantastic coach. I actually got a little emotional and teary-eyed at one point in the game when he had to carry a girl off the field after she had hurt her knee. He laughed at me when I told him. Hey, I'M PREGNANT (even though I've done that pre-pregnancy.....but don't tell him).
